Looking to pick up a new hobby? Or hone your skills at music, photography, art or public speaking? Want a stage to showcase your talent? DBYS is the one stop solution to what you seek!
Don Bosco believed in the holistic development of the young person. He went through great lengths to develop his own talents and skills. As a boy, it helped him not only earn a livelihood, but also attract his peers, so that he could catechize them. As a priest, it enabled him to teach his boys various life-skills and earn a living. His ‘expressive’ system of education encouraged youngsters to discover, develop and express themselves in music, song, theatre, sports and art. Moreover, he taught his boys to imitate him by using their talents to attract, catechize and evangelize.
Keeping in mind the Salesian Youth Spirituality and the belief that every young person is ‘gifted’ by God, DBYS offers opportunities to young people to develop and showcase their talent. The auditorium may be used for ‘jamming sessions’, dance and other indoor activities. DBYS encourages musical talent by giving school students and young people a platform to flaunt their skills through its annual music fests for beat groups.
Throughout the year, Tej-Prasarini: Don Bosco Communications, conducts classes to train young people in guitar and keyboard. In addition, during the summer, creativity workshops are conducted for school / college students and young adults. The workshops include: guitar, keyboard, dance, personality development and public speaking and photography. However, the highlight of the summer
creativity workshops is the ‘The Life Project’ that trains the young person to develop self-esteem and life-coping skills to boost confidence and ensure greater productivity.
